Justin Bieber’s Easter Instagram post should silence any doubters on the seriousness of his Christian faith. “Jesus has changed my life. Easter is not about a bunny, it’s a reminder that my Jesus died on the cross for my sins and then rose from the dead defeating death!” the singer wrote.
The Canadian Pop darling has also hinted at his faith during a 2016 concert, when he led his audience in the Deliriou5? chorus, “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever.” He regularly attends Hillsong Church in New York City, which has been known to minister to celebrities under the leadership of celebrity pastor Carl Lentz.
The post affirms the doctrinal goods a la Hillsong’s statement of beliefs. He writes, “I am set free from bondage and shame. I am a child of the Most High God and He loves me exactly where I am how (I) am for who I am.” The post covers evangelical themes of Jesus’ substitution, resurrection, forgiveness, adoption and Christian identity.
Easter for Everybody
Along with Justin Bieber; Chris Pratt, Chance the Rapper, Vanessa Hudgens, Stephen Colbert, Jim Gaffigan and many others have publicly professed their Christian faith. Bieber’s post and a growing list like this show that neither money nor fame are enough to fulfill the human soul. They demonstrate that the cross and resurrection of Jesus holds promise and hope for any and every person who will receive Him, which Bieber’s post proudly affirms.
